Mrs. Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Former Deputy Minister for Transport and Special Aide to Former President John Dramani Mahama has broken her silence on the issue of cabinet-level salaries for spouses of the President and the Vice President.

According to the seasoned Maritime Lawyer, President Akufo-Addo has refused to get Former President John Dramani Mahama some benefits he is entitled to as a former president but wants to pay his wife and that of the vice president for no reason.

She revealed that, though the government was supposed to provide Former President Mahama an office and a house, the Akufo-Addo-led government refused to grant him such benefits for unknown reasons.

She noted that, “President Mahama is the only former president who does not have an office from the State as is his right. And it is because President Akufo-Addo refuses him that privilege.”

“Today the same Akufo-Addo and the NPP are making moral arguments to justify the decision to pay the First and Second Ladies monthly salaries, equivalent to that of a Cabinet Minister, backdated to 2017 January, and with all benefits due a Cabinet Minister,” she stated in a Facebook post.

She went ahead to also questioned whether the country is all about President Akufo-Addo’s family.

Joyce Bawah’s comments followed recent public uproar on the issue of the approval of cabinet-level salaries for the spouses of the president and the vice president.
