Former President John Dramani Mahama has made clarifications on reports making rounds that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo requested for his[John Mahama’s] intervention on the Electronic Transactions Levy(E-levy) impasse.
In a Facebook post, the Former President disclosed that President Akufo-Addo has never requested for his intervention to resolve the E-levy deadlock.
“At no time was there any discussion specifically about the President requiring my intervention in the impasse on the E-levy,” he stated.
According to Former President Mahama, he received President Akufo-Addo’s cousin, Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, at his residence at his[Gabby’s] request on Tuesday 21st December, 2021.
He disclosed that among issues they discussed was the desire of Ghanaians to see the two major political parties working together for the interest of the nation.
According to him, they also discussed how dialogue can be deployed to ensure Parliamentary issues are agreed consensually before coming on the floor to avoid what happened recently in the House.
“We further discussed opening channels of communication between the leaders of the two parties including a possible meeting with the President at a future date,” Mr. Mahama stated.
