Six residents of Ayikoo Ayikoo, a predominant Muslim Community within the Cape Coast South Constituency have lost their lives in a Tragic car accident that occurred within the Sege enclave yesterday, December 27 around 3:00 pm.
According to sources, the six people who have lost their lives were part of a contingent of Muslims who went to the Volta Region to help a brother burry his father.
Unfortunately for them, the Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GV 843 -14 which they were travelling with got involved in an accident.
According to the Ayikoo Ayikoo Assemblyman, Mr. Lamidi Alhassan, the accident occured when they were returning from the funeral of their colleague’s father.
He further disclosed that when their car got to Sege within the Ada District, the back tyre of the car burst, resulting in the accident.
“Three died on the spot while the other three died later at hospital. The three who died on the spot were with the Ghana Police when we arrived,” he added.
Checks have revealed that the Assemblyman’s brother is also part of the deceased.
However, he has indicated that since they’re Muslims, they’ll take the necessary steps to burry their departed friends in line with Muslim customs and traditions.
“I thank the Police officers who assisted us to retrieve our dead from the hospitals. The Police acted professionally. As I speak, we’ve gotten all the bodies of the dead and they are in an ambulance heading towards Cape Coast for the necessary preparation and burial rites,” the Assemblyman stated.
