Officers of the Ghana Police Service have killed five people who had attempted to assassinate the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh, Nana Abor Atta II.
Three others who were part of the plot are currently on the run as the police are busily making efforts to locate and arrest them.
According to the police administration, they received intelligence on the assassination plan which caused them to quickly ambush the assailants who arrived in a taxi with registration number GG 3427-21 fully loaded with guns.
According to reports, upon reaching the cemetery in the town, police officers with AK47 fired at them, leading to the death of five of the assailants.
Nana Abor Atta II, they “initially picked intelligence, but we didn’t take it seriously until it happened. As Chief of Gomoa Fetteh, I was taken through the proper process of ascending the throne. But I am surprised that some persons have planned to kill me. I want to thank the police for the swift response in saving my life.”
Many people share the view that the 8-member assassination squad were contracted by unknown persons to carry out the assassination.
