Members of the Minority Group have boycotted today’s proceedings over the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy as the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has moved a motion for rescission of Friday’s rejection of the 2022 budget.
According to sources, talks between the Majority and Minority in Parliament over the rejected 2022 Budget have broken down, leading to the Minority’s boycott of the proceedings.
According to sources, during a meeting earlier today in Parliament, the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, backed by the Majority side of the House, walked in and proposed the reduction of the E-levy from 1.75% to 1.5%.
The Minority side of the House have rejected the Finance Minister’s new proposal, stressing that the E-levy must be entirely scrapped.
At the time of filing this report, the one sided House made up of Members from the Majority Group have moved a motion for a vote of rescission first to rescind the decision taken on Friday — rejection of the 2022 Budget.
